About ElectraMile

A practical guide to electric cars, charging and what it actually costs — for readers in the UK and the United States.

ElectraMile exists because the information a person actually needs before buying or living with an electric car is scattered across a dozen places, and much of it is out of date.

What we do

We answer the questions that decide real money and real convenience:

  • What will charging cost me, on my tariff, with my car?
  • Which electric car fits my budget, my mileage and where I can park?
  • What plugs into what, and which adapter do I need?
  • What grants or credits still exist where I live?

Where the answer depends on data, we hold that data as a structured record with a source and a last-checked date, rather than burying it in prose that quietly goes stale.

How we work

We start from primary sources. Government schemes, manufacturer specifications and operator pricing pages, in that order of preference. Where only a secondary source exists, we say so.

We label what kind of number you are looking at. A manufacturer claim, an independent measurement and our own estimate are three different things, and we do not blur them.

We show our working. Every calculator states its assumptions on the page and says what it excludes.

We leave gaps as gaps. If a figure cannot be sourced reliably, the page says "not published" rather than showing a zero. A blank is more useful than a wrong number.

We date everything. Prices, tariffs and incentives change. Pages carry a review date, and volatile records are re-checked on a schedule.

Both markets, properly

We cover the United Kingdom and the United States. That is not one site with the currency swapped — connectors, terminology, incentive schemes, networks and pricing conventions genuinely differ, and pages reflect that. Where the underlying answer is the same in both markets, we write it once and localise the figures rather than publishing two near-identical pages.

Who runs it

ElectraMile is built and operated by Unique Evolution Limited, an independent software studio.

What we are not

We are not a news wire, and we do not try to report every announcement first. We are not a charging map, and we do not attempt live charger availability. We do not sell cars, install chargers, or process charging payments.

We are a reference you can check something against, and trust the date on.
