Tesla Model Y lease deals: real UK and US prices for 2026
UK quotes range from £349 to £434 a month for the same car, depending only on the provider. Here's why, what the US pays instead, and the true cost once you add up a full contract.

A Tesla Model Y lease in the UK currently costs anywhere from around £349 to £434 a month for the same Standard RWD car, depending entirely on which provider you use. In the US, Tesla's own lease offer sits at $459 a month over three years. Neither number tells you the true cost on its own. You need the deposit, the term and the mileage limit alongside it before any of these figures actually mean anything useful.
What "Tesla Model Y lease" buyers are actually comparing
Nobody searching this phrase wants Tesla's list price. They already know roughly what a Model Y costs to buy outright. What they want is a real, current monthly figure, and a way to tell whether one leasing company's quote is genuinely better than another's for the same car.
That comparison is harder than it looks. Leasing companies buy their cars in bulk, negotiate their own funding rates, and set their own deposit structures. Two adverts for an identical Model Y Standard RWD can differ by £80 or £90 a month and both still be entirely legitimate. If leasing turns out to be the wrong shape of deal for you, our used EV buying guide covers buying a nearly-new Model Y outright instead.
Why UK quotes vary so much between providers
A spread of genuine, live quotes
Checked across UK leasing brokers in August 2026, a Tesla Model Y Standard RWD lease starts from £348.85 plus VAT a month with Synergy Car Leasing, £411.23 with Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, and £433.78 including VAT with First Vehicle Leasing. Carwow's own comparison tool advertises deals from £413 a month. All four are real, current quotes for essentially the same car, checked on the same day.
What actually explains the gap
The difference comes down to the initial payment, the funding rate each broker has negotiated, and how VAT is shown on the page. A quote excluding VAT looks cheaper at first glance than one that includes it, for exactly the same underlying deal. Always ask for a final, VAT-inclusive figure before comparing two providers directly against each other.
A bigger deposit almost always buys a smaller monthly figure from the same provider, on the same car. That trade-off is worth making on purpose, not by accident. If you would rather keep more cash available day to day, ask each broker for their lowest-deposit option specifically, even if the headline price advertised on their website assumes a much larger one upfront.
The US: one advertised number, clearer terms
Tesla's own US lease offer for the Model Y, as of August 2026, runs $459 a month over 36 months, with $3,000 down, the first month's payment, and a $695 acquisition fee due at signing. The mileage allowance is 10,000 miles a year, a genuinely simple deal compared with the range of UK broker structures.
How to compare Tesla Model Y lease quotes properly
1. Ask every provider for the same three numbers. Monthly payment, initial payment, and total mileage allowance. Without all three, you cannot honestly compare two quotes, however different the headline figures look at first glance.
2. Confirm whether the price includes VAT. A personal lease should always be quoted inclusive. A business lease is often shown excluding VAT, since a company can usually reclaim part of it, which is exactly why £348.85 and £433.78 can both be genuine quotes for the same underlying car.
3. Check the company car tax angle if this is a business lease. A fully electric car sits at just 4% Benefit-in-Kind for the 2026/27 tax year. On a £41,990 Standard RWD Model Y, that works out at roughly £28 a month in tax for a basic-rate taxpayer: £41,990 × 4% gives an annual taxable benefit of £1,679.60, and 20% of that is £335.92 a year, or £27.99 a month.
4. Match the trim to the deal. Every quote above is for the entry Standard RWD, at £41,990 on the road. A Long Range RWD lease, on the £44,990 car, or a Performance lease, on the £61,990 car, costs proportionally more each month. Browse the rest of our EV model guides if you are still deciding between the Model Y and something smaller.
5. Read the mileage terms as carefully as the monthly figure. UK deals commonly cap at 8,000 or 10,000 miles a year. Going over costs extra per mile on top of everything else, so be realistic about your actual driving before you sign anything at all.

What the US lease actually costs across the full term
Take Tesla's own US offer exactly as advertised: $3,000 down, plus the first month's $459 payment, plus a $695 acquisition fee, all due at signing. That totals $3,000 + $459 + $695 = $4,154 upfront, before a single mile is driven.
Add the remaining 35 monthly payments: 35 × $459 = $16,065. The full three-year contract comes to $4,154 + $16,065 = $20,219 once every payment is added together.
Across 10,000 miles a year for three years, that is 30,000 miles of driving in total. $20,219 ÷ 30,000 miles works out at $0.674 a mile, before charging costs, insurance or tax are added on top of the lease itself. Run the same maths on any UK quote before assuming a lower headline monthly figure is automatically the cheaper deal once the whole contract is totalled up.
Converted at a typical exchange rate, $0.674 a mile comes out at a little over £0.53 a mile, noticeably more than the UK's own advertised monthly figures once mileage and term are worked into the comparison properly. That gap is a genuine market difference, not a rounding error, and it is worth checking before assuming a US-style deal would translate directly to UK pricing on the same car.
When leasing a Model Y is not the smart move
A lease only pays off if you are genuinely comfortable never owning the car and handing it back in good condition at the end. If you plan to keep a car for eight or ten years, buying outright, even with finance, usually beats repeatedly leasing new cars every few years instead.
It also assumes predictable mileage. If your annual driving swings wildly, a flexible finance deal avoids the risk of a large bill for excess miles at handback. And if towing is part of your reason for choosing an SUV shape, check our guide to the best electric cars for towing before assuming the Model Y is automatically the right choice for that job.
A lease also locks in today's monthly price for the whole term, for better or worse. If interest rates or Tesla's own pricing move significantly during your contract, a fixed lease protects you from any rise. It also means you cannot benefit from a later price drop until the term ends and you shop around again.

Common questions
How much does it cost to lease a Tesla Model Y in the UK?
Quotes checked across UK brokers in August 2026 range from £348.85 plus VAT a month with Synergy Car Leasing to £433.78 including VAT with First Vehicle Leasing, for essentially the same Standard RWD car. Carwow's comparison tool advertises deals from £413 a month, so it genuinely pays to compare several providers.
Why do Tesla Model Y lease deals vary so much between providers?
The difference comes down to the initial payment each provider asks for, the funding rate they have negotiated, and whether the price shown includes VAT. A quote excluding VAT looks cheaper on the page than one that includes it, for exactly the same underlying deal, so always ask for a final, VAT-inclusive figure.
How much does it cost to lease a Tesla Model Y in the US?
Tesla's own US offer, as of August 2026, runs $459 a month over 36 months, with $3,000 down, the first month's payment, and a $695 acquisition fee due at signing. The mileage allowance is 10,000 miles a year, with extra charged per mile beyond that limit, so check your realistic annual mileage first.
How much more does it cost to lease the Long Range Model Y?
Every UK quote above is for the entry Standard RWD, at £41,990 on the road. The Long Range RWD, at £44,990, and the Premium Long Range AWD, at £51,990, both cost proportionally more each month, broadly in line with their higher purchase price.
Is leasing a Tesla Model Y cheaper than buying one outright?
It depends on how long you keep the car. Leasing avoids depreciation risk and spreads the cost, but you never own the car and hand it back at the end of the term. Someone keeping a car for the best part of a decade usually pays less overall by buying than by leasing repeatedly.
